The struggle at Standing Rock has reached a critical point and Indigenous water protectors need support and solidarity more than ever. For the last several months, thousands of activists, led by Standing Rock Sioux tribe and members of nearly 100 more tribes from across the U.S. and Canada, have confronted the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline(DAPL) at Standing Rock.
The pipeline, if completed, would carry over 500,000 barrels of crude per day from North Dakota through four states and under the Missouri River, directly adjacent to the Standing Rock Sioux Nation. DAPL is being bankrolled by a number of major conglomerates and banks, including Bank of America, HSBC, UBS, Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo, JPMorgan Chase and Energy Transfer Partners. Energy Transfer Partners is owned by billionaire and GOP donor, Kelcy Warren. The $3.8 billion pipeline is a direct threat to native communities, fresh water and the climate.
Since the start of the conflict, over 140 indigenous water protectors and scores of others have been arrested for protesting the pipeline. Hundreds of National Guard soldiers, North Dakota State Police and police from neighboring states have violently attacked peaceful protestors.
Fair World Project (FWP) strongly opposes the Dakota Access Pipeline and all extractive projects that threaten Indigenous Peoples, undermine tribal sovereignty and destroy the environment. FWP condemns the violent actions by the National Guard and police units and calls for an immediate halt to the Dakota Access Pipeline.

STOP THE PIPELINE, STOP THE DESECRATION, STOP THE DISRESPECT FOR BURIAL SITES, STOP DAMAGING THE ENVIRONMENT, STOP ENDANGERING THE WATER, THE LAND AND THE PEOPLE…..STOP STOP STOP
President Obama,
How can let this debacle continue? If a traditional cemetery with granite headstones were being dug up, you would stop it immediately. If you had to drink the polluted water that results from fracking, you would stop it. If you lived n a state where this activity triggers earthquakes you would stop it. Native Americans are the true original Americans. How can you allow them to be arrested, abused, attacked by police dogs and allow their sacred animals – Bison – be cruelly abused in the name of (false) progress. Are the oils companies’ bribes really worth it?
