Please note that there is a $50 non-refundable application fee (fee is waived for organizations that are certified by the SPP or are a member of the Fair Trade Federation, World Fair Trade Organization or Cooperative Coffees). After we receive your complete application, we will contact you regarding its status within 30 days.
Criteria
- Member of Fair Trade Federation, World Fair Trade Organization, Cooperative Coffees or Domestic Fair Trade Association and/or certified by an eco-social certification* at 70% or above of product line (all products which are eligible for certification must come from a certified source).
- Full commitment to small-scale farmers with proof via references from farmer/producer groups and posted statements. (This requirement can also be fulfilled through certification by the Small Producer Symbol (SPP), or membership in the WFTO, FTF, or Co-op Coffees)
- Accurate and non-misleading labeling. We review packaging and promotional materials for proof of accuracy in labeling. We may request samples of packaging and materials for review.
- Brand does not actively support policies that harm small-scale producers, such as current free trade agreements, and is not a member of an organization that is actively supporting these policies. Brand is to submit a list of organizations that do lobby, political, or advocacy work they support either as a member or via financial donations.
*Eco-social certifications include: Fairtrade International, Small Producer Symbol, Fair for Life, Fair Trade USA, Rainforest Alliance, UTZ, Ecocert, IBD, or Food Justice Certified.
