Fair World Project Travels to Biofach

Fair World Project attended the 2011 Biofach Congress in Nurenberg, Germany. With over 25,000 participants from 131 countries, Biofach is the world?s largest gathering of organic and fair trade producers, companies, and NGOs.

Biofach is also emerging as an important space for reconnecting organic food and farming with fair trade. In addition to hundreds of fair trade brands on display, Biofach also hosted a number of panel discussions around fair trade.

Highlighting the presentations was David Bronner, President of Dr. Bronner?s Magic Soaps, presentation on the growth of fair trade and the growing risks of ?fairwashing.? Dr. Bronner?s Magic Soaps and the Organic Consumers Association recently submitted a complaint to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) against TransFair USA and fair trade “cheater” brands Avon and Hain Celestial.? As the demand for fair trade continues to grow, the need for increased vigilances in the marketplace is more important than ever.
