Most of us eat a lot of processed and packaged food. In the fair trade movement we talk about what kind of fair trade labels should be allowed on these packaged products. Should a company like Nestlé be allowed to put a fair trade label on a product like a Kit Kat even if all ingredients aren’t certified? Should Nestlé be allowed to use a fair trade label at all given its history of human rights and environmental abuses?
Another aspect of these products that is often overlooked is the packaging it comes in and the workers who make it. But we cannot overlook it any longer. A factory fire at the Tampaco Foil packaging factory in Bangladesh claimed over 30 lives and wounded additional workers on September 10th.
The Tampaco Foil factory made packaging for food and tobacco companies including Nestlé. To date, the victims and their families have not been compensated and Nestlé has made no commitment to ensure this type of catastrophe doesn’t happen again.
Consumer outrage around the world in the wake of several disastrous industrial accidents at the garment factories in the region, including the collapse of Rana Plaza killing over 1,000 workers, pressured apparel brands to examine their supply chains. That pressure led to some improvements in fire safety in garment factories, but those improvements have not yet translated to other sectors.

Compensate victims of the Tampaco Foil factory disaster. Until you change your business model, I won’t be buying Nestle products.
I have stopped using your products as well as those produced by your subsidiaries: they taste like forced servitude and charred flesh to me

It will NOT compensate or apologise to these people or their families; it’s up to us to either gaol them or boycott them until they fall to other, more moral companies. I have not bought a Nestlé product in over a decade and reprimand friends when I see that they have. I used to love KitKat but found it easy to give it up when I read about Nestlé transgressions all over the world. Glad to say I don’t miss it.
Leave our water alone! Leave nature alone! Compensate the victims of your packaging plant in Bangladesh. Until you become a corporation that follows ethical business practices, I will regard it and all your products as sick, sick, sick, and not to be touched, AND CONTINUE TO ADVISE ANYONE I SEE BUYING THEM WHY IT’S A BAD IDEA AND THEIR NEED TO EDUCATE THEMSELVES ABOUT YOUR COMPANY.
Money was supposed to make barter easier. It was not intended to create excessive opulence for a few while enslaving the many. When used to enslave others this is a tool for evil and it must stop!
Until you treat your contracted workers as equally valuable human beings, I will not buy anything from Neslie or its subsidiaries.

I have tried to avoid Nestle products for many years, since the first reports started coming out about their poor factory & safety conditions, and will continue to do so.
You have continued to take over and control so many companies. You are a giant that cares not for your workers. I am ashamed to use your products. Nestles used to be a loved house hold word. No More, you are a Monster just like Monsanto. You need to care for your workers and compensate the families of those that lost their lives This is an atrocity. Change your ways!
